Prof. Shirish S Sane obtained his Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT), Pune in the year 1987. He then worked as a Software Engineer at the “Algorhythms Computer Software Consultants”, Pune. With his passion towards the field of Education, he joined the K K Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research (formerly called the K K Wagh College of Engineering), Nashik in the year 1988. He obtained his Masters Degree M. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai in the year 1995. He is the first candidate being awarded the Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from SPPU (Formerly known as University of Pune).

Since the year 1998, he is working as the Head of the Computer Engineering Department and the Professor Incharge of the “ Kusumagraj ” Central Library at the K K Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research. He has also worked as the Head of the Information Technology and MCA departments at that institute. Since the year 2005, he is working as Vice Principal of K K Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research, Nashik and since the year 2012, he is also the member of Board of Directors of K K Wagh Education Society, Nashik

Prof. Sane is working as the Chairman of BOS in Computer Applications, SPPU, Pune since may 2018. He is also the past Chairman of Board of studies in Computer Engineering, SPPU (Formerly known as University of Pune) and has been working/worked as a member of several boards of studies such as

Computer Engg and also member of Faculty of Engg, SPPU(Formerly known as University of Pune), North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon, Marathwada University, Aurangabad, VIT COE, Pune, Cummins Women COE, Pune, Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), Nashik and Govt. Polytechnic, Nashik. He is also the member of Technical Advisory Committee for YCMOU and NMC.

He has provided expert guidance for “Sinhasta Kumbh Mela”, SETU Project, Double-Entry Accounting System for Nashik Muncipal Corporation, CBS Solution for Namco Bank, Nashik, Center for Education, Development and Technology (CEDT), Aurangabad, and Regional Referral Govt. Hospital, Nashik.

He is the member of various professional bodies such as CSI, IE (I), ISTE, IET and Fellow of the IETE. He has worked as a Chairman for CSI Nashik Chapter and worked as the Regional Student Coordinator for CSI Region VI. Currently he is working as Regional Vice President for Region VI (Maharashtra & Goa). He was the member of the managing committee of IE (I) and IETE Nashik local centers and also a member of Nashik IT Association (NITA). Since December 2016, he is also working as member of Executive Committee of Nashik IT Association (NITA), Nashik.

He is also approved as a Ph. D. Guide, and Post-Graduate Teacher in Computer Engineering by University of Pune and recognized guide for IE(I) and M. Phil Programme of YCMOU, Nashik.

He has successfully completed the research work funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi under the UGC Minor research scheme. He has also received the grant from the AICTE under the MODROB program and coordinated the research grant from I.I.T. Mumbai. He was instrumental in establishing the Center of Excellence by IBM and Established Aakash Centre and brought Spoken Tutorials, a project by IIT Bombay to his Institute.

He has authored textbooks on the subjects “Data Structures” and “Theory of Computer Science”. Prof. Sane has more than 60 research papers published at the national and International Conferences and Journals.

He has worked as a visiting faculty and delivered several seminars on topics related to the field of Information Technology at several educational institutions in and around Nashik and also worked as a resource person for the short-term training programs for teachers.

He has conducted training course for officers of Siemens, Nashik Works Limited. He was one of the faculty member for the training program organized jointly by the NIMA and K K Wagh College of Engineering for the industries in and around Nashik.

Prof. Sane has coordinated several workshops, seminars, faculty development programs, short term training programs and conferences in and around Nashik and Pune organised by the University of Pune, the Computer Society of India and KKWIEER.

Shirish Sane is the recipient of the “Best Teacher Award” by Lion's Club, Nashik in the year 1999 and Panchavati Swarvajanik Wachanalaya Nashik in 2012.

His areas of interests include Data Mining, Databases, Compilers and Education Technology.
