With the impending arrival of the e-Vitara, Maruti Suzuki is all set to rewrite the rules of the game in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) space. The SUV, launch scheduled for September 2025, is intended to blend affordability with advanced features, perhaps changing the future of electric mobility in the country.
Design and Platform
The e-Vitara looks very modern with a rugged exterior and a modern dashboard. The Heartect-e platform is structurally robust and has a low center of gravity, enhancing safety and driving dynamics.
The dimensions of the SUV are 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, providing comfortable space for passengers and their belongings.
Performance and Range
The e-Vitara offers a selection of two battery sizes: a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The bigger battery makes an output of up to 173 bhp, with torque at 192.5 Nm.
The e-Vitara overcomes range anxiety with its 500-plus km claimed range on a full charge, a major concern for the prospective EV customers.
Variants and Features
The Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara will be offered in three versions: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha, with the base Delta variant having a 48.8 kWh battery, while both the Zeta and Alpha have a larger 61.1 kWh battery. All three versions offer 7 kW AC charging and 70 kW DC fast charging for faster and convenient recharge.
The e-Vitara is a fully loaded car meant for comfort and safety. Features include a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, and a fully digital instrument cluster. Safety comes with six airbags.
